That the Parliament welcomes the decision of Glasgow City Council to grant a community asset transfer of land in North Kelvin to the Children’s Wood community organisation; understands that the Children’s Wood will take a 25-year lease of the site, which it will maintain as a garden and open space for the benefit of the local community; congratulates all of those who campaigned over many years to bring the former playing grounds back into valued local amenity use under threat of inappropriate development for housing; believes this is a victory for community self-empowerment and is especially timely to support people’s wellbeing through the COVID-19 pandemic and beyond, and wishes the Children’s Wood every success in its future work with the local community.
