Glasgow Children’s Hospital Achieves Centre of Excellence Status

That the Parliament congratulates the Royal Hospital for Children in Glasgow on being awarded the prestigious Tessa Jowell Centre of Excellence for Children designation; understands that this recognition highlights the hospital as one of the first paediatric units in Scotland to receive such an honour, alongside the Royal Aberdeen Children’s Hospital; notes the hospital’s outstanding commitment to the care of children diagnosed with brain tumours, including patient-focused chemotherapy, integrated neuro-oncology services, skilled radiotherapy and comprehensive neurorehabilitation support; recognises what it sees as the dedication, expertise and innovation of the hospital’s staff over the past 18 months in developing solutions that have set new standards of care; acknowledges the positive impact of the hospital’s work on children, families and the wider NHS network, and commends the continued efforts to share best practice across Scotland, thereby improving outcomes for young patients nationwide.
