  • Submitted by: Claire Baker, Mid Scotland and Fife, Scottish Labour.
  • Date lodged: Wednesday, 08 February 2023
  • Motion reference: S6M-07720

That the Parliament congratulates Johnny Travers of Dunfermline Boxing Club on winning a gold medal in the schoolboy 2011 42kg category at the Boxing Scotland’s Development (A&B) Championships recently; understands that Johnny was one of five members, including his elder brother, James, of Dunfermline Boxing Club, who competed at the competition; notes that the event was staged over two weekends in November 2022 and involved more than 750 boxers who competed in a variety of weight and age categories, and was held at the Ravenscraig Regional Sports Facility in Motherwell; believes that the 11-year-old, who has been involved in the sport since the age of eight, reached the final of the schoolboy 2011 42kg category and came home victorious with the gold medal; recognises the hard work and dedication that Johnny puts into training, and the contributions and performances of the other young members from the club in the competition, and extends its very best wishes to Johnny and the Dunfermline Boxing Club for continued success in the future.
