David McNaughton, from Alloa, Boxing and Running for Cancer Research UK

  • Submitted by: Alexander Stewart, Mid Scotland and Fife, Scottish Conservative and Unionist Party.
  • Date lodged: Thursday, 26 January 2023
  • Motion reference: S6M-07649

That the Parliament is enthused that an Alloa resident hopes to complete a boxing match and a half marathon within a day of each other, for charity; understands that David McNaughton will be taking part in the Ultra White Collar Boxing (UWCB) match on 11 March 2023 and then the Alloa half marathon on 12 March 2023; believes that David may be the first to tackle these events in such close proximity to each other, and understands that he is looking forward to completing both in order to raise money for Cancer Research UK; understands that UWCB holds around three or four charity events each year and, as such, David usually works for them and helps out at the events, but for 2023, he has decided to take the plunge and enter the events himself; acknowledges that UWCB proactively hosts various events throughout the year and offers an eight-week training programme to anybody wishing to compete in its fundraisers, and that the Alloa events have so far raised a total of £139,489 for Cancer Research UK; congratulates David on what it sees as his highly magnanimous ambitions, and wishes him and everyone involved all the very best in their endeavours.
