  • Motion reference: S6M-07642

That the Parliament recognises the Cottage Family Centre's The Big Hoose initiative, which was established in January 2022 and sees household goods distributed to children and families experiencing hardship across Fife; further recognises that the project works in partnership with other charities, including Fife Gingerbread, Homestart, Fife Women's Aid, foodbanks, pantries, as well as social workers, health visitors, schools, nurseries, housing officers, community teams, and other organisations across Fife that support children and families experiencing hardship; believes that the Cottage Family Centre has signed an agreement with Amazon UK and other companies, which sees millions of pounds worth of goods being redirected to support families that need it most; further believes that items include bedding, kitchen items, towels, nappies, household furnishings and goods which are highly sought after; understands that The Big Hoose has been supported by various companies, including the Purvis Group, which has provided a warehouse free of charge in Lochgelly, acting as a distribution centre; thanks Fife Council for its support in helping to distribute these items quickly to families in need and which is in the process of setting up local distribution hubs; recognises that the Cottage Family Centre, with the support of its partners, including Amazon UK, is hoping to expand this service outwith Fife, to Edinburgh and Falkirk, in due course; commends the work of Pauline Buchan, Strategic Manager at the Cottage Family Centre, and her fantastic, dedicated team for all that they have done and continue to do to support families in the Cowdenbeath constituency and across Fife, and wishes them all the very best for the future.
