Tribute to Lanarkshire’s Former Chief Superintendent James "Jim" Gilmour MBE

That the Parliament pays tribute to Lanarkshire’s Former Chief Superintendent James "Jim" Gilmour MBE , who died on 1 January 2023, and who will be remembered for his dedication to improving road safety across the country; understands that Chief Superintendent Gilmour MBE was born in Weem, Aberfeldy, was a soldier in the Scots Guards, and was promoted quickly to Corporal as a fieldcraft instructor before joining Motherwell and Wishaw Burgh Police; notes that Chief Superintendent Gilmour MBE was honoured several times throughout his career, having been awarded the first-ever Baton of Honour at Police College, Tulliallan, received a Silver Jubilee Medal acknowledging his police service, and appointed an MBE for his commitment to road safety, earning him the name "Mr Traffic"; further notes the many warm tributes and happy memories that have been shared, and hopes that these will provide some comfort to his family and friends at this sad time.
