Asda Extends Cost of Living Support in Cafés and Blue Light Discount

  • Submitted by: Christine Grahame, Midlothian South, Tweeddale and Lauderdale, Scottish National Party.
  • Date lodged: Wednesday, 11 January 2023
  • Motion reference: S6M-07446

That the Parliament welcomes the extension of Asda’s cost of living support through its in-store cafes; understands that Asda’s Kids Eat for £1 and Winter Warmers £1 deal for pensioners are to be extended until the end of March 2023; believes that, since launching these initiatives in 2022, Asda cafes have served more than 192,000 £1 meals to kids and over 60s in Scotland, as well as providing older customers with a warm space and a hot meal during the colder months; notes that Asda has extended its 10% discount for emergency workers though its partnership with the Blue Light Card, and recognises the value of these schemes to many people across Scotland during a period of severe financial hardship.
