Crofthead Bowling Club’s Centenary Celebrations

  • Submitted by: Paul O'Kane, West Scotland, Scottish Labour.
  • Date lodged: Tuesday, 04 October 2022
  • Motion reference: S6M-06161

That the Parliament recognises that Crofthead Bowling Club, which is situated in the village of Neilston, has celebrated its 100th anniversary in 2022; understands that the celebrations were conducted by club members, their friends and families in August; notes that the club’s official centenary year was 2021 however due to the COVID-19 pandemic, celebrations were delayed until a much less restricted event could be held; understands that Crofthead Bowling Club was originally a feature of the English Sewing Company workers' recreation club but would go on to become an independent club in 1990s after its members purchased the green and installed a member’s lounge, and celebrates that 100 years on from forming, the club, which has an estimated 100 members, is still offering the village of Neilston a friendly place for recreational and social activity in which everyone is welcome.
