Reinstating the CalMac Season Travel Pass for Isle of Cumbrae Residents

  • Submitted by: Jamie Greene, West Scotland, Scottish Conservative and Unionist Party.
  • Date lodged: Friday, 30 September 2022
  • Motion reference: S6M-06140
  • Current status: Achieved cross-party support

That the Parliament recognises what it considers the importance of the CalMac monthly season pass for travel to Isle of Cumbrae residents and commuters; further recognises what it sees as the unique challenges that Cumbrae residents face living as part of an island community; regrets reports that CalMac and Transport Scotland have removed the ability to use the pass until further notice; understands that the cost of travel to Cumbrae for residents with the season pass will almost double and place additional pressure on their finances during the global cost of living crisis; notes the calls for the reinstatement of the season travel pass by Transport Scotland as a matter of urgency, and further notes the calls on the Scottish Government, Transport Scotland, CalMac, North Ayrshire Council and locally elected representatives to work together towards the goal of bringing back the season travel pass as soon as is feasibly possible.
