SYP's 78th National Sitting

  • Submitted by: Ross Greer, West Scotland, Scottish Green Party.
  • Date lodged: Tuesday, 27 September 2022
  • Motion reference: S6M-06080

That the Parliament welcomes the Scottish Youth Parliament's (SYP) 78th National Sitting and annual SYP Awards to Dynamic Earth, in Edinburgh, on the weekend of 30 September to 1 October 2022; congratulates SYP and its members (MSYPs), all of whom are volunteers aged 14 to 25 and elected by their peers, for their work since their election in November 2021, including all of those nominated for an SYP Award; welcomes the ongoing partnership work between SYP, all of Scotland’s 32 local authorities and 11 national voluntary organisations; notes that MSYPs have selected the climate emergency, the right to food, education reform, and drugs misuse as a public health issue as their campaign priorities; understands that, at the sitting, MSYPs will have the opportunity to create and debate policy on live issues on behalf of constituents through members’ motions sessions, and looks forward to welcoming SYP and its members to a future sitting in the Scottish Parliament to continue the strong partnership work between the democratically-elected MSYPs and MSPs across the country.
