  • Submitted by: Sarah Boyack, Lothian, Scottish Labour.
  • Date lodged: Monday, 26 September 2022
  • Motion reference: S6M-06022

That the Parliament welcomes the 2022 Scottish International Storytelling Festival from Scottish Storytelling Centre, which, it understands, is one of the 11 Edinburgh Festivals internationally recognised as a leader in its field; understands that the Festival, which is to be held over 17 full days from 14 to 31 October 2022, based at the Scottish Storytelling Centre and with events across wider Scotland and around the world online, will form the world’s largest celebration of storytelling; further understands that there will be live indoor events in festival venues and outdoor live events in various outdoor locations, as well as live and pre-recorded online events and workshops; notes what it sees as the vital role the Scottish Storytelling Centre has in preserving and recounting Scottish tales, stories and traditions so that future generations can enjoy them just as much as their forebears; congratulates the Centre and its staff on what it understands is 16 years of tireless work to promote and preserve Scottish cultural heritage, and encourages everyone to join one of the biggest celebrations of Scottish culture.
