  • Motion reference: S6M-05912

That the Parliament understands that over 100 workers at Baker Hughes sites in Angus are taking ongoing industrial action in a dispute over the company’s reported fire and rehire tactics; expresses its concern at the reported use of fire and rehire tactics by Baker Hughes; understands that workers were issued with redundancy notices at short-notice and told to sign new contracts with inferior pay rates or risk losing their jobs; notes Unite the Union’s estimates that these contractual changes could lead to workers suffering a pay cut of over £10,000; expresses its support for, and solidarity with, the workers in what it sees as their struggle to protect their jobs, pay and conditions; notes the belief that the Scottish Government should publicly support the workers and condemn what it sees as the fire and hire tactics of Baker Hughes, and calls on Baker Hughes to engage constructively with Unite the Union to resolve the dispute.
