  • Submitted by: Russell Findlay, West Scotland, Scottish Conservative and Unionist Party.
  • Date lodged: Wednesday, 07 September 2022
  • Motion reference: S6M-05875

That the Parliament commends St Mirren FC for its generous provision of free season tickets to all 50 primary schools in the Renfrewshire area plus two other additional support needs schools; notes that each of these schools has been provided with four season tickets for the Tony Fitzpatrick Family Stand allowing attendance at all Scottish Premiership home games at the SMiSA Stadium; understands that this initiative may be the first of its kind in the country; believes that it will help to maintain and build relations between the club and the wider Renfrewshire community; hopes also that it will encourage an interest in sport and fitness for pupils; understands that the club also runs its Help a Buddies scheme, which allows fans to pay for a seat for another member of the community who may not be able to afford one as well as their Street Stuff activity programme and other charitable work; praises St Mirren FC for continuing to engage with the local community to encourage future generations of fans, and wishes it all the best for the rest of the season.
