  • Submitted by: Elena Whitham, Carrick, Cumnock and Doon Valley, Scottish National Party.
  • Date lodged: Tuesday, 09 August 2022
  • Motion reference: S6M-05610

That the Parliament commends EPIC East Ayrshire Pipe Band Academy on its recent launch concert at Cumnock Town Hall, in partnership with Kilmarnock Pipe Band, which displayed some of the most inspiring youngsters in the academy; understands that the academy looks to advance education and encourage young people in East Ayrshire to take up and play the chanter, pipes and drums; considers that the academy is a community-based music education and performance programme designed to inspire and create champions in performance and life; understands that with the COVID-19 pandemic easing, academy pupils are able to start performing outside, together as a unit, whilst lifting the spirits of local communities, and wishes all at the academy and Kilmarnock Pipe Band the very best for a bright future ahead.
