  • Motion reference: S6M-05480

That the Parliament celebrates the 10th anniversary of the start of the Rojava revolution in Northern Syria, which it understands began when the People’s Protection Units (YPG) liberated the city of Kobani on 19 July 2012; considers that the events in Rojava and across Northern Syria since Kobani’s liberation constitute a social revolution; welcomes what it sees as the deep commitment of the Autonomous Administration of North East Syria to women’s empowerment, radical democracy and cooperation between different ethnic and religious communities; thanks the Syrian Democratic Forces for what it sees as their successful struggle against the so-called ISIS Caliphate and their ongoing operations against ISIS remnants; condemns the reported ongoing aggression of the Turkish state against the people of Northern Syria, particularly the region’s Kurdish population; states its unequivocal opposition to the reported threatened further invasion of the region by Turkish forces; stands in solidarity with the revolutionary people of Rojava, and congratulates them on the progress made over the last decade.
