That the Parliament welcomes the announcement that The World Union of Karate-Do Federations (WUKF) World Karate Championships will take place in Dundee in July 2023; understands that this is the second time in five years the competition will be held in the city after Dundee successfully hosted the event in 2018; believes that the 2018 event added more than £9 million to the local economy; recognises what it sees as the exemplary work of Dundee’s Kanzen Karate and its Chief Officer, Roy O’Kane in spearheading the project on both occasions; further recognises the support and funding offered by partner organisations Dundee City Council, the Dundee and Angus Chambers of Commerce and Leisure and Culture Dundee; looks forward to a further successful event, and wishes organisers, competitors and supporters the very best for the tournament.
