Royal Voluntary Service Award

That the Parliament congratulates George McMahon for winning the Royal Voluntary Service Award; understands that the award was presented in recognition of his work and dedication for the West Coast Furniture Bank SCIO; further understands that the award was launched in honour of the Queen’s 70 years of service to the country and aims “to celebrate the remarkable contribution of all volunteers, who truly are the backbone of our country”; notes that he is one of three award winners in Ayrshire with over 3,000 volunteers from across the United Kingdom having been nominated for this award; notes that the West Coast Furniture Bank SCIO charity delivers household necessities free of charge to people who are often living in extreme poverty and have been referred by the local authority, NHS services, Women’s Aid and dozens of other support services; thanks George for his hard work and dedication to the charity, and wishes him every success in the future.
