  • Date lodged: Wednesday, 29 June 2022
  • Motion reference: S6M-05179

That the Parliament congratulates Brodie Engineering in Kilmarnock on the official opening of Caledonia Works; recognises that the historic Caledonia Works was closed in March 2020 then purchased by Brodie Engineering in August 2020 to preserve the site for future rail engineering; further recognises that Brodie’s Caledonia Works and its Bonnyton Rail Depot are Scotland’s last two dedicated rail engineering works; recognises what it sees as Brodie Engineering’s dedication to the local community and its award-winning rolling stock engineering business, founded in 1996 by Gerry and Debbie Hilferty, which offers clients a bespoke and comprehensive range of refurbishment, maintenance, overhaul and repair services aimed at the UK rail and light rail sectors; understands that Patrick Harvey MSP, Minister for Zero Carbon Buildings, Active Travel and Tenants’ Rights, along with Pete Waterman OBE and hugely successful producer-songwriter, and President of the Railway Benefit Fund, conducted the official re-opening of the Caledonia Works, and wishes Brodie Engineering a very successful future.
