CentreStage Communities Secures Young Start Funding

  • Submitted by: Brian Whittle, South Scotland, Scottish Conservative and Unionist Party.
  • Date lodged: Thursday, 23 June 2022
  • Motion reference: S6M-04976

That the Parliament congratulates Kilmarnock-based organisation, CentreStage Communities, on receiving an award of £97,656 in grant funding from Young Start; understands that Young Start is delivered by the National Lottery Community Fund Scotland and aims to fund work which helps children and young people become more confident and realise their own potential; further understands that the grant will be used by CentreStage’s Community Connect project to provide free scholarship spaces to disadvantaged young participants, allowing them the opportunity to participate in music, drama, dance, and musical theatre with individualised support; recognises that allowing young people greater opportunities to participate in arts and other extra-curricular activities can not only help them to learn new skills, but also supports good mental and physical health; commends everyone at CentreStage Communities for their efforts, and wishes them continued success.
