That the Parliament warmly congratulates Scotland’s Junior Curling team of skipper James Craik, Angus Bryce, Scott Hyslop, Neil Ryder and Jack Carrick, supported by coach Iain Watt, after winning the gold medal at the World Junior Curling Championships at Jonkoping Curling Club in Sweden on 22 May 2022; understands that the team enjoyed an emphatic 7-1 victory over their German opponents in the final; acknowledges that their wonderful achievement follows in the footsteps of Scottish skip Bruce Moat’s rink, which achieved similar success in 2016 before going on to secure a silver medal for Team GB at the Winter Olympics in Beijing, China in 2022; recognises that skip James Craik won bronze at the previous two junior curling championships; wishes the new World Junior Champions continued success as they look to make their mark in future competitions, and notes what it sees as the growing strength and outstanding progress being achieved by Scottish curling on the world stage.
