National Lottery Community Fund Award to Men Matter Scotland

  • Submitted by: Bill Kidd, Glasgow Anniesland, Scottish National Party.
  • Date lodged: Wednesday, 25 May 2022
  • Motion reference: S6M-04497

That the Parliament congratulates Men Matter Scotland on receiving a Medium Grants Scotland funding award from the National Lottery Community Fund; notes that the funding of £138,974 will go towards supporting 1,000 men through a mental health and tackling suicidal thoughts support service for three years; recognises that the support service will be based out of Drumchapel community hub, and appreciates the significant impact that this service has already delivered to men throughout the Anniesland constituency in improving men's mental health, which it considers has a ripple effect on community, family relationships and the making of strong male role models for the next generation; highlights that the peer support service trains men who have been supported by Men Matter to help others who have been in similar situations; notes that this support ranges from supporting men out of drug and alcohol abuse problems, tackling loneliness and past trauma, and bringing about hope for a better future, and commends the workers and volunteers involved who are delivering this life changing support.
