  • Submitted by: Alex Rowley, Mid Scotland and Fife, Scottish Labour.
  • Date lodged: Friday, 20 May 2022
  • Motion reference: S6M-04492

That the Parliament welcomes the news that Rosyth Dockyard has secured a £30 million contract to provide maintenance services for two Royal Navy aircraft carriers over the next 10 years; understands that this investment is expected to generate around 300 jobs, which will benefit the local Rosyth and surrounding Fife economy; acknowledges that the agreement will see maintenance and repairs undertaken on two of the world’s most sophisticated aircraft carriers, HMS Queen Elizabeth and HMS Prince of Wales, at the Babcock dry dock facilities; understands that Babcock employs around 2,000 people at the yards on the Firth of Forth and has invested more than £100 million in skills and infrastructure in the area, and congratulates all the workforce on building a sustainable future for the yard.
