Sapphire Gymnastics Academy, Maryhill’s Community Sports Hub

That the Parliament commends the work of Maryhill-based Sapphire Gymnastics Academy, which provides opportunities to 650 young people to participate in gymnastics across a variety of levels; understands that the club uses the sport not only to develop the health, fitness, confidence and wellbeing of all participants, but also provides excellent coaching and support to develop pathways for talented young gymnasts to excel; understands that this will include Demi Adams, Scotland's first ever World Medallist in tumble, and Gary Monteith, who trialled at Lilleshall British gymnastics headquarters at the end of March 2022, in a bid to compete in the European Championships in Rimini in June 2022; welcomes the community sports hub model that Sapphire Gymnastics has developed, hosting nine external clubs, including JD Fitness, Partick Amateur Boxing Club, Kingston Gymnastics Club, Glasgow University Cheerleaders, Limitless Dance Academy, Strathclyde Cheerleaders, Dynamite Gymnastics Club and Get Fit with JD; understands that Sapphire Gymnastics ran a two-week Easter camp in April 2022, and has been collecting donations to support aid efforts for families in Ukraine; congratulates Sapphire Gymnastics for its strong growth and success to date, and wishes all involved with Sapphire Gymnastics, and the various clubs that they host, every success in the future.
