  • Submitted by: Rona Mackay, Strathkelvin and Bearsden, Scottish National Party.
  • Date lodged: Monday, 28 March 2022
  • Motion reference: S6M-03733

That the Parliament congratulates Aviana Connelly, Beth Jamieson and Ella O'Brien for their outstanding efforts in raising over £900 for the DEC Ukraine Appeal on 19 March 2022; delights that the P6 pupils from Holy Family Primary School in Kirkintilloch organised, promoted and held a Bake Sale to raise awareness and funds for the ongoing humanitarian relief efforts in and around Ukraine; further delights that many more of their friends, family members and neighbours rallied to offer their support; believes that the instinct of three enthusiastic young girls to do something meaningful and swiftly to support aid efforts is to be applauded; is encouraged that such actions are reflective of the many ways in which it believes that young people are using their time and energies across Scotland to make a difference in the lives of others; gratefully thanks the support of their families in enabling this event to take place, the Old Gatehouse restaurant and pub in Lenzie for allowing the girls access to their diners, and Holy Family Primary for promoting the event in the school community; acknowledges the phenomenal support of the public in purchasing baked items and donating to the appeal, and extends its thanks to everyone across Scotland, no matter their age or background, who is raising funds towards providing humanitarian aid for Ukraine.
