Heartstart Argyll and Clyde Receives Scottish Health Volunteer Gong

  • Submitted by: Stuart McMillan, Greenock and Inverclyde, Scottish National Party.
  • Date lodged: Wednesday, 15 December 2021
  • Motion reference: S6M-02545

That the Parliament congratulates Heartstart Argyll and Clyde on receiving a Scottish Health Volunteer gong for their work in teaching emergency life-saving skills to the public; notes that Heartstart Inverclyde is a founding member of Heartstart Argyll and Clyde and was established 25 years ago; understands that, in the year before COVID-19, Heartstart Argyll and Clyde trained 1,000 people, which included people working in schools and in the care sector; further understands that the programme is run by Save A Life Scotland and NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde, and encourages businesses and organisations to consider booking training so that more people can learn basic emergency life support skills, because it can never be predicted when the skills might be of use; commends the Heartstart Argyll and Clyde volunteers and considers that this award reflects their commitment to ensuring more people across the community know what to do in a medical emergency, and hopes that the organisation goes on to save more lives through its programme.
