Parliamentary questions can be asked by any MSP to the Scottish Government or the Scottish Parliamentary Corporate Body. The questions provide a means for MSPs to get factual and statistical information.

  • Written questions must be answered within 10 working days (20 working days during recess)

To ask the Scottish Executive whether any element of the projected £30 million overspend in Scottish Enterprise’s Budget for 2005-06 arose due to factors other than the “deliberate strategy to encourage new project proposals in each local enterprise area” and the “identification of a growing number of projects of national significance” referred to by the Deputy First Minister and Minister for Enterprise and Lifelong Learning on 30 March 2006 (Official Report c. 24611) and, if so, what these factors were and how much of the overspend each factor accounted for.

To ask the Scottish Executive whether the statement by the Deputy First Minister and Minister for Enterprise and Lifelong Learning on 30 March 2006 that Scottish Enterprise will continue to invest over £500 million per year in Scotland's economic future (Official Report c. 24609) mean Scottish Enterprise's annual budget will be fixed at that level or above, whatever the outcome of further discussions between it and the Executive in respect of the 2006-07 budget position.
