To ask the Scottish Executive what the average annual number of long-term unemployed people has been in Aberdeenshire and what percentage of the total number of unemployed they accounted for in each of the last five years.
The Claimant Count gives thenumber of people claiming unemployment related benefits and is produced by the Officefor National Statistics.
Table1 shows the number of long-term unemployed people claiming unemployment relatedbenefits in Aberdeenshire and also the long-term unemployed as a proportion of totalunemployment in the authority. Annual averages are provided from 2002 to 2006, andcover the period January to December inclusive. Long-term unemployed are definedas those claiming unemployment related benefits for over 12 months.
