To ask the Scottish Executive, further to the statement by the Deputy Minister for Finance, Public Service Reform and Parliamentary Business that the Minister for Transport and Telecommunications will inform the Parliament of the Executive’s proposals for dealing with possible structural issues with the Forth Road Bridge (Official Report c. 20268), when it anticipates that such an announcement will be made.
Consideration is being givento the emerging findings from the bridge cable tests. We have commissioned anindependent analysis of the work done to date and will wait until that work iscomplete before we make any decisions. I will keep the Parliament advised ofprogress at the appropriate time.
