The Convener (Graeme Dey)

Good morning and welcome to the 21st meeting in 2017 of the Environment, Climate Change and Land Reform Committee. I remind everyone present to switch off mobile phones and other electronic devices as they may affect the broadcasting system.

I welcome John Scott and Donald Cameron to their first meeting of the committee and invite them to declare any interests they have that are relevant to the work of the committee.

John Scott (Ayr) (Con)

I refer to my entry in the register of members’ interests. I am a farmer, a landowner, a fellow of the Royal Agricultural Societies, an honorary member of the British Veterinary Association, a member of NFU Scotland and one of the founders of the farmers market movement in Scotland.

Donald Cameron (Highlands and Islands) (Con)

I, too, refer to my entry in the register of members’ interests, which was lodged on 9 June last year. I am a landowner—I own Achnacarry estate, which is a landholding in the Highland local authority area. The estate supports a commercial, forestry and agricultural business, the full details of which are in my register of interests.

I take this opportunity to thank Maurice Golden and Alexander Burnett for their contribution to the committee over the past year, which was very valued.
