Decision on Taking Business in Private

The Convener (James Dornan)

Good morning, and welcome to the ninth meeting in 2020 of the Local Government and Communities Committee. I remind everyone present to turn off their mobile phones. I welcome Pauline McNeill MSP, who is attending our meeting for item 2.

Item 1 is a decision on whether to take in private item 4, which is consideration of the evidence that is heard today on the First-tier Tribunal for Scotland housing and property chamber. The committee will also decide whether to hold the meeting on Wednesday 18 March in private. Do we agree to take that business in private?

Members indicated agreement.

Before we move on, I declare an interest as someone who rents out a flat in Glasgow.

I also rent out a flat.

Graham Simpson (Central Scotland) (Con)

This is not in my entry in the register of members’ interests, but the company that Mr Reid works for—James Gibb Residential Factors Scotland—is the factor of a property that I rent in Edinburgh. That does not mean that I will go easy or hard on him.

I will be keeping a close eye on the questions that you ask him.
