Testimonial

"Thank you for your interest in this role.

I joined the Parliament after working for the BBC for many years. I worked across all areas of live programming, music, sport, light entertainment, drama, news and current affairs. The experience gained working in these areas was invaluable when working for the Scottish Parliament.

Since opening, the Scottish Parliament has grown in significance for the people of Scotland and the rest of the UK. My role as Director has been to be a creative lead in televising business to produce an unbiased, interesting and transparent view of what is happening in the Chamber and Committee Rooms, while always adhering to the rules of coverage.

In addition to Parliament activities, we cover a huge range of events, from international summits to cultural events, including international artists, orchestras, dance and drama. The annual Festival of Politics offers a substantial range of events throughout the Parliament campus. As Director, I have a key role in the live coverage of Royal Events, liaising with the Royal household, broadcasters, performers and lots of trumpeters!

On these occasions, the Director will lead the planning around integrating additional operated cameras and audio to supplement the installed robotic systems.

It has been an interesting and varied role over the years, but results would be impossible to achieve without a great working team. The Broadcasting Office is an outstanding team and it’s been a pleasure to be part of it. The successful candidate will be fortunate to work in a progressive and creative unit"
