Do you agree that the remuneration of our vital public services, such as the NHS and community care services, should be permanently increased?

Do you agree increasing the remuneration of those providing vital public services will help create a sense of value and attract the dedicated staff required to sustain vital services?

If the NHS had been any less capable during this pandemic, the Covid virus would have claimed many more lives than it has done. ALL employed by the NHS and in related public service posts have risked their own lives to help save others - they need to be acknowledged and appreciated with a suitable pay increase, NOT a cut in wages and numbers!

A truly worthwhile proposal

It has taken a pandemic for the Government to release money that it claimed was not available. Money is clearly not an issue, it's time it was used to protect the NHS and the dedicated people who work in it.

I am ashamed that as one of the wealthiest economies on the planet, it takes a pandemic of this magnitude to make us aware of the low remuneration and poor terms of employment afforded those maintaining the essential services most of us depend on. The very least we can do, to begin the process of remedying this disparity, is to sign this petition. Once the pandemic has receded and attention turns to balancing the economy, we must continue to ensure that the vital role these people fulfill in our society is recognised appropriately.

Public service employees, especially NHS and community care staff, are undervalued and we have all seen how crucial their roles are during the Covid-19 pandemic. It is long overdue to ensure that their remuneration is appropriate to the service to our community they provide.
