Self-guided visit


The Scottish Parliament building will be closed during February Recess from Saturday 10th to Saturday 18th February (inclusive). The building will re-open to the public on Monday 19th February from 10:00.

The Scottish Parliament is usually open to visitors 6 days a week – Monday to Saturday.

Visitors are welcome to enter the building and discover the visitor areas. This is an ideal option for a brief visit for around 30 minutes or as an addition to our guided tours.

All visits are free of charge. No booking required.


Visitor areas usually include the dramatic vaults of the Main Hall, A Parliament for the People exhibition, and the Parliament Shop and Café.

Join our free public talks to learn about the Scottish Parliament, .

The talks introduce you to the history of the Scottish Parliament, the work of our Members and the architecture and design of our building.

Available most days at various times. Please ask Visitor Services staff for more information.

Visitors may also discover a selection of works from the Parliament Art Collection.
