This summer, World Press Photo returns to the Scottish Parliament! We’ll be hosting the exhibition this year between Wednesday 1st August to Saturday 25th August (closed on Sundays) from 10am – 5pm, and entry is free.

WPP showcases some of the most powerful and thought-provoking images of the past year. The annual photo contest rewards photographers for the best single exposure pictures which have contributed to visual journalism throughout 2017, split into the below categories:

  • Contemporary Issues
  • Environment
  • General News
  • Long-Term Projects
  • Nature
  • People
  • Sports
  • Spot News

This year 73,000 images were submitted by 4,500 photographers from 125 countries. To find out more about the contest, and see the full list of nominees, visit www.worldpressphoto.org.

The 14th Festival of Politics will take place at the Scottish Parliament from 10-13 October.
