The Coroners and Justice Bill was introduced in the House of Commons on 14 January 2009. In accordance with Standing Orders Rule 9B.3, a legislative consent memorandum (LCM) was lodged by the Cabinet Secretary for Justice on 20 January 2009. The Justice Committee considered that memorandum and reported to the Parliament in March 2009.1 The evidence taken and the Committee’s report raised a number of concerns around the data sharing provisions in the Bill. Scottish Ministers decided not to lodge a motion to further that memorandum.
