The Census (Amendment) (Scotland) Bill was introduced in the Scottish Parliament on 2 October 2018. The primary purpose of the Bill is to make answering census questions about aspects of gender identity and about sexual orientation, voluntary. The Bill also adds references to "gender identity" and to "sexual orientation" to the schedule of matters which may be required to be given in a census.
As with all bills, the Finance and Constitution Committee invites written evidence on the estimated financial implications of the Bill as set out in its accompanying Financial Memorandum (FM).
