The Committee agreed to hold a mini inquiry on employability programmes including sanctions.

Timetable

The Committee held an oral evidence session on 26 January 2017. A second oral evidence session with the Minister for Employability and Training was held on 2 February 2017.

Evidence

On 26 January 2017 the Comittee took evidence from:

  • Rachel Stewart, Senior Public Affairs Officer, Scottish Association for Mental Health (SAMH);
  • Dr Sally Witcher, Chief Executive Officer, Inclusion Scotland;
  • Tommy McDade, Assistant Director of Employment, Training and Skills, Barnardo's Scotland on behalf of the Young Person’s Consortium;
  • Marion Davis, Senior Manager, One Parent Families Scotland (OPFS);
  • Rhiannon Sims, Policy Officer, Citizens Advice Scotland;
  • Pamela Smith, People Group Chair, Scottish Local Authorities Economic Development (SLAED).
