The Education and Skills Committee considered elements of the Scottish Government's Draft Budget 2017-18 which relate to its remit.

The Committee took evidence from the Cabinet Secretary for Education and Skills on the Scottish Government's Draft Budget 2016-17 on 21 December 2016.
Written evidence
The time-scale for considering the Draft Budget was limited. Therefore the Committee did not seek views from members of the public or stakeholders on this work. However, the Committee received one written submission.
Pre-budget scrutiny
Prior to the Committee's work on the Scottish Government's Draft Budget 2017-18, the Committee scrutinised the performance and role of four key public bodies. The public bodies the Committee scrutinised were:
- Skills Development Scotland;
- the Scottish Funding Council;
- the Scottish Qualifications Authority; and
- Education Scotland.
