The Bill will enable local authorities to provide support to certain carers; to make provision about the way in which certain social care services are provided by local authorities; and for connected purposes.

The Finance Committee considered the Bill on 7 March 2012 and 9 May 2012.

The Subordinate Legislation Committee considered the Bill on 8 May 2012, 15 May 2012, 22 May 2012, and 18 September 2012. They published their report on 23 May 2012.

The committee published its Stage 1 Report on 6 July 2012.

The Bill was debated by Parliament on 18 September 2012.
