Cornerstone Community Care in Aberdeen Secures National Lottery Funding

Aberdeen Grammar School Secures National Lottery Funding

That the Parliament congratulates Aberdeen Grammar School on securing £9,406 of National Lottery funding; notes that the funding will be used to install new volleyball courts within the school and to purchase equipment allowing for increased participation and use of the hall by school students and local clubs; notes that the historic school was established in 1257, and commends it for its ongoing work in promoting an active lifestyle.

Bon Accord Free Church Refurbishment

Fittie Community Development Trust

That the Parliament congratulates the Fittie Community Development Trust on being awarded £7,674 by the Big Lottery Fund for its Community Hall Project; recognises that this funding will provide assistance in renovating the Fittie Gospel Hall, with the trust having agreed to purchase the hall from Aberdeen City Council on June 2017; understands that the goals of this project are to provide a sustainable community space for recreational activities, to provide a cultural and historical centre for the Fittie area and to improve the quality of life of all residents through engagement in shared activity, and wishes the trust the best of success in its ongoing efforts to provide this service to its local community.

Great Aberdeen Run

That the Parliament celebrates the success of the inaugural Simplyhealth Great Aberdeen Run event, which was held on 27 August 2017; notes that the half-marathon route encompassed some of the most scenic areas of the Granite City, including Union Street, the historic Brig O’ Balgownie, Old Aberdeen and the beach esplanade; understands that the event brought over 7,000 runners, as well as many supporters, to the city; commends the charity fundraising efforts of all involved, and wishes the event further success in future years.
