Pancreatic Cancer Awareness Day

That the Parliament acknowledges that 15 November 2018 is Pancreatic Cancer Awareness Day; notes that pancreatic cancer is caused by the abnormal and uncontrolled growth of cells in the pancreas, which is part of the digestive system; notes that it is not fully understood what causes pancreatic cancer but that risk factors include being overweight, smoking and age; understands that 781 individuals in Scotland lost their lives to pancreatic cancer in 2017; recognises the importance of the charity, Pancreatic Cancer Scotland, which aims to improve education, healthcare and research, as well as support patients and their families, and believes that the charity plays a pivotal role in raising awareness of pancreatic cancer.
