Flyspotting in Leith

  • Submitted by: Andy Wightman, Lothian, Scottish Green Party.
  • Date lodged: Monday, 14 May 2018
  • Motion reference: S5M-12224

That the Parliament congratulates Leithers Don’t Litter and Changeworks on the launch of Flyspotting, a campaign against flytipping in Leith; welcomes this move as part of Zero Waste Leith to raise public awareness about flytipping, which it considers a blight that costs Scotland £11 million per year; understands that this campaign will assist people to report flytippers to the City of Edinburgh Council, as well as arrange for legal ways for waste to be uplifted and disposed of or recycled; commends the campaign organisers for designing a stylish branding that reflects the cultural identity of Leith, and wishes Flyspotting every success in contributing to cleaner, healthier streets.
