  • Submitted by: Alex Cole-Hamilton, Edinburgh Western, Scottish Liberal Democrats.
  • Date lodged: Thursday, 07 September 2017
  • Motion reference: S5M-07562

That the Parliament looks forward to the first Scotland Testing Week, which will run from 11 to 17 September 2017 and be promoted with the hashtag, #KnowYourRisk; understands that more people in Scotland than ever before are living with HIV, with one in seven estimated to be unaware that they have the virus, and that 40% of people with hepatitis C are believed to be undiagnosed; notes that the primary aim of the week is to encourage people who believe that they might be at risk of HIV, hepatitis C or an STI to access testing; acknowledges the various activities that will take place and that have been coordinated by Hepatitis Scotland, HIV Scotland, Positive Help, SX, Terrence Higgins Trust and Waverley Care in partnership with the NHS boards, and hopes that the week is a success.
