The Scottish Parliament today announced a photographic competition as part of the celebrations taking place on Saturday 30 June marking the Third Session of the Scottish Parliament.
Presiding Officer, Alex Fergusson MSP said:
"We are looking for images that will convey the spirit of this historic occasion so we can ensure enduring memories of the day are captured.
"The Parliament’s own photographs will reflect official aspects of the ceremony but we are looking for the public’s perspective - whether they come to the celebrations in Edinburgh or follow the proceedings elsewhere, for example via TV, radio or our online webcast.”
The day is set to be an historic occasion and will bring together the people, the parliament and The Queen.
Notice of the competition follows the recent announcements of a planned Riding down Edinburgh's Royal Mile and a free open air concert for more than 5,000 people in the landscaped gardens – the Picnic at the Parliament.
Winning photographs will be displayed alongside official Parliamentary photography in an exhibition at Holyrood’s Festival of Politics later this summer.
There are two categories – under 16’s and over 16’s.
The competition will open on Saturday 30 June and will close on Tuesday 17 July. Full entry details are available on the Parliament’s website at http://www.scottish.parliament.uk/session3 or by writing to:
