About The Committee

The Health and Sport Committee examines the Scottish Government’s health policy, the NHS in Scotland, sport and other matters within its remit.

The Committee has nine members and is convened by Duncan McNeil , Labour MSP for Greenock and Inverclyde.

The Committee determines its own subjects for inquiry and also deals with any proposals for legislation, statutory instruments or petitions referred to it. It normally meets on a Tuesday morning. Timetable for Stage 1 scrutiny

Following the closing date for the submission of written evidence, the Committee began taking oral evidence on the Bill on 10 February 2010 and concluded on 5 May 2010.
