The A77 is long overdue an upgrade of this scale south of Ayr. Not only with bypasses for the affected communities but also that there are sections that are prone to landslips. These landslips seem to take years to fix, when similar situations elsewhere are solved very quickly in comparison, such as the A9 Perth to Pitlochry in August 2004, A83 Rest and Be Thankful, A82 Spean Bridge to Invergarry.

There would be huge financial benefits to both South Ayrshire and Dumfries & Galloway, not only for the economy and tourism possibilities, but also a fantastic chance to increase commerce between Scotland and Northern Ireland.

A boost to the economy of this forgotten corner of Scotland is way long over due.

Travel this road regularly and the A75 each day - both are absolutely horrendous roads. Life in your hands stuff, between potholes, subsidence, and lack of passing places. Convoys of 12-20 articulated lorries. Road signs hidden by dirt or trees, falling trees, and lack of grit when it's freeing. Pathetic traffic lights, a slippery road sign near Kilphin for 2-3 years without actually fixing the problem. Awful just awful and both roads equally as bad.

We are the forgotten and ignored corner of Scotland, think about the 30mph urban limit dropping to 20mph and without bypasses how much longer journeys would take on A77 with all its other problems. Dual Carriageway would allow the HGVs to legally travel at 50mph, cars can do 70mph So it now has become a priority to upgrade this road and to bypass as many villages and towns as possible.Thank you everyone who has signed it and commented.

It,s meant to be a Euro Route, but it is hopeless.

In this day and age to have roads like this to a major port is ridiculous.

This bypass has been long over due!!! Every day I walk up Maybole High Street I get anxious with how close the huge HGVS etc are to us pedestrians to try and get by another vehicle!! And the 20mph speed limit is a waste of time due to idiotic drivers not sticking to the speed limit. And the kids that have to cross the A77 to get to Carrick Academy. I had to stop traffic 2 years ago at the top of Maybole High Street to help a woman who had got knocked down. Even when I held her hand I had huge lorries and a car transporter managed to make sure they got by us with inches to spare!!!!
