A key highlight for the Government is to invest in the Early Year provision with the new doubling of hours from 600 to 1140 hours due to commence in 2020. So we are really disappointed that the private sector nurseries have been hit with substantial increases in rates when we have been fighting alongside NDNA (National Day Nurseries Association) to have rates for nurseries abolished, and at best substantially reduced, not substantially increased!

As parents who do not have family around we rely heavily on nursery to look after our child while we are at work. More importantly, having the option for nursery allows us to go to work and contribute to the society. I do wonder how parents will feel if their salary just about covers the fee for the nursery. Would u or other parents want to go to work.

Raising child care cost is just going to cause less people returning to work as they will only be working to pay for child care and be no better off

If the government wants people to get back into work after having a baby then a reduction in childcare costs is essential to make working worthwhile !

By increasing business rates for nurseries this additional cost will be passed on to parents to pay for childcare costs. We both work and have very limited family support so rely heavily on nursery childcare. This is yet another cost which hard pressed families will have to soak up, diminishing disposable income and affecting local spending into the economy!

My childcare is already double my mortgage. Stop penalising working parents.

Absolutely shocking that my rates have trebled. This will have a very detrimental effect on my business. Also no notification was given on this until a letter was received advising of new rates. Rates and VAT should be abolished for nurseries.
